How RigSpec works

Every part is a catalog item

Parts on a RigSpec sheet are catalog items. If something's missing, any owner can add it and it's shared right away, labelled "community-added" until the brand verifies it. One-off, shop-built parts can stay private to a rig.

Fitment is checked, not assumed

When you add a part, RigSpec looks for a fitment record for your platform and year. Verified fit means the brand or industry data lists it. Owner-reported fit means owners say it fits, but the brand hasn't confirmed it. Fitment unconfirmed means it doesn't, and you can tell us it's a Modified fit, pick the right part, or report the listing as wrong. Fitment is labelled as reported, with its source.

Where the catalog comes from

  1. Brand-supplied catalogs from brands who claim their page: a Shopify export or RigSpec's template, reviewed by the brand before it publishes.
  2. Public product pages, read automatically only where the site's terms allow it or the brand gave permission. AI drafts the records; anything uncertain is reviewed by a person, and a sample of everything automatic is spot-checked weekly.
  3. Owners, who add missing parts (labelled community-added until the brand verifies them) and report fits. A fit becomes "owner-reported" after several independent owners agree, and never silently overrides brand data.

Neutral ranking rules

Search results are ordered by how well they match your search and whether they fit your rig. Brands cannot pay to change that order. A Brand Pro member may appear in one extra slot above the results, always labelled "Featured". RigSpec's operator also works part-time for an aftermarket brand, which is why these rules are published and apply to every brand the same way.

Money

Part links may earn RigSpec an affiliate commission. Brands pay for Brand Pro; owners can pay for Owner Pro. Neither changes fitment data.

Insurance records

The build record documents what's installed, what you paid and what it costs to replace at current catalog prices. It is not an appraisal or insurance advice; your carrier decides what's covered.

Recall alerts come from NHTSA's public data. Always check your VIN with NHTSA or your dealer. Trail information, when it arrives, is for planning only and never a safety guarantee.
